Housing Solutions Network Community Update Meeting February 7th

Housing Solutions Network – Community Update Meeting
Tuesday February 7th, 5pm-7pm at the Twisp Grange

In the late fall of 2020, recognizing that the local housing crisis in the Methow Valley is dire and complex, a group of nonprofit leaders, initially led by the Methow Housing Trust, came together to try to research and learn from other communities who have faced similar challenges, seeking to highlight solutions that could work in the Methow Valley.

In early 2021, this group formalized into the Housing Solutions Network (HSN), with the core team made up of leaders from The Methow Housing Trust, Room One, Methow Conservancy, Twisp Works, and Methow Valley Citizens Council. Throughout 2021 and into late 2022, this group engaged interested and skilled members of the public, developing a set of 26 possible solutions, and focusing the community conversation.

While the housing crisis continues, there is strong work being done! In recognition of this fact, the Housing Solutions Network has evolved yet again. In the fall of 2022, leaders representing an organization actively working on a housing project were invited to be a part of the HSN, attending bi-monthly roundtables (along with ad hoc collaboration), to create some connective tissue between these leaders and their projects. Today the HSN is made up of 15 individuals, representing 15 different entities and projects.

This group has now met twice, and the progress and optimism is contagious and encouraging. We’d like to share this optimism, encouragement, and notes on progress with you, our community!

Please join us on Tuesday, February 7th, from 5-7pm at the Twisp Grange.

From 5-6pm, each member of the HSN will give a brief, 3-5min overview of their project and the housing need they are targeting. (this portion of the meeting will also be available via this Zoom link here)

From 6-7pm, each member of the HSN will move to a table, and attendees are encouraged to wander about, ask questions, provide encouragement, and learn.
